Frequently Asked Questions

What is an RCIC and why does it matter?+
A Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) is licensed and authorized by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) to represent clients in Canadian immigration matters. Only licensed RCICs, lawyers, and Quebec notaries can legally provide paid immigration advice in Canada. Working with an unlicensed consultant (a 'ghost consultant') puts your application and money at risk.
What is a CRS score and how is it calculated?+
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used to rank Express Entry candidates. Your score is based on age, education, language ability, work experience, and other factors. The highest-scoring candidates receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in regular draws. Use our free CRS Calculator to estimate your score.
How long does the Express Entry process take?+
Once you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), IRCC aims to process most Express Entry applications within 6 months. However, the time to receive an ITA depends on your CRS score and draw patterns. The entire process from profile creation to landing can take 8-12 months.
What is the difference between Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs?+
Express Entry is a federal system that manages three economic immigration programs. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are run by individual provinces to address their specific labour needs. A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile, virtually guaranteeing an ITA. PNPs can be a great option if your Express Entry score alone is not competitive.
Do I need an immigration consultant to apply?+
No, you can apply on your own. However, immigration applications are complex and a single mistake can lead to delays, refusals, or bans. A licensed RCIC ensures your application is complete, accurate, and presents your case in the strongest possible way. If you have already prepared your application, our Application Review service lets you get expert eyes on it before you submit.
What is an LMIA?+
A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that a Canadian employer may need before hiring a foreign worker. A positive LMIA shows that no Canadian worker is available for the job. It is required for most employer-specific work permits and can also add 50 or 200 CRS points to an Express Entry profile.
What documents do I need for my application?+
Required documents vary by program but typically include a valid passport, language test results (IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF), Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), proof of work experience (reference letters, pay stubs), proof of funds, police clearance certificates, and medical exam results. During your consultation, we will provide a complete checklist specific to your case.
How is the Application Review different from Full Service?+
With an Application Review, you prepare the application yourself and we review it for errors, gaps, and improvements before you submit. With Full Service, we handle everything from start to finish - document preparation, form completion, submission, and all correspondence with IRCC. The Application Review is ideal if you want to save on costs but still want professional oversight.
